4th of July Weekend.

Current Music: "Crooked Teeth" Death Cab for Cutie
So for not having any concrete plans for the 4th, I think it turned out quite well.

Friday night I was working, so I covered to Big Boom down in Appleton. Taped my first fireworks show, which was really fun. Maybe because it was something different to shoot, or the fact I have been in the editing room the last couple weeks, so shooting anything would have been fun. After the fireworks, and waiting in the crazy traffic, I headed out to the final hours of Karaoke. Sang Fortunate Son by CCR right away, followed by BNL's Another Postcard with Chimpanzees. Later in the night I sang a little Safety Dance. But I ran into this girl I thought I knew (I got her name right) and she thought she knew me, but turned out we didn't and couldn't figure it out. Ended up looking like an idiot, but what else in new.

Saturday, slept late, watched some South Park, and headed to Comedy City to see how many people were doing shows. Was going to hang out before going to Ken's birthday and it turned out they needed me for shows. Not that it mattered, because no one came to watch them. Hung out, brain stormed about some Table 8 Productions stuff before going to Ken's for some awesome birthday fireworks. Some cool pictures and much fun was had. After, we wound down to some Arrested Development. Forgot how amazing that show is. Everyone started heading to bed, so the rest of us came to our house and played TMNT & Worms until 4am.

Sunday, Justine, Andrea, & Phil came over to see the house and play some games. It was good to see them. Last saw them in December for Phil & Andrea's Wedding. Table 8 Productions meeting, shot a video, and HuHot for brainstorming. Tracy, Bridge & BF came over to see house and games as well. Overall a good weekend. Nice to see so many friendly faces.

Pinata Dream

I have to right this down while I still remember, because it was pretty funny.

I had this dream I was watching a parade and they had this horse dressed up like a pinata. Which is really clever if you think about it. But the funny part was the horse started attacking the kids watching the parade. I remember laughing in my dream and making a point to note the irony. A pinata attacking kids.

Clever Games

These are real games I found in the latest issue of Previews... due out in September.

Donkey Kong Jenga
The classic Jenga game, with images of Mario climbing the platforms to the top to save the princess. Kind of clever, but I don't think I will be picking this up. Sorry about the bad quality, but I couldn't find a better version online.

Monty Python Fluxx
Now for something completely different. The game that constantly changes, with the Monty Python theme. This could be fun, might get this once it comes out.

Incase you didn't know

So I recently came back from a week of storm chasing. 11 states total. Spotted 1 or 2 tornadoes.

The lamp burnt out on my 52-inch projection HD TV (ordered a new lamp 2 weeks ago & it still didn't show up.)

Bought a new digital camera (drop proof & water proof)

Got a Flawless on singing for Rock Band (happened once, and probably won't happen again)

So I am officially PISSED OFF at MICROSOFT. I sent my 360 in to get fixed. I get it back a couple weeks later without the faceplate. That is right, the whole front faceplate is gone. I call them to complain. They basically call me a liar for a half hour saying they never received it with the faceplate. Why the HELL would I send the XBOX without a faceplate. There was no way for me to convince them that I was right and they were wrong. How would I benefit by trying to get a free faceplate. I seriously sent it with one and received it without. I hate being called a liar for a half hour. Fucking Microsoft.

WFRV Youtube

Ok, so I might have mentioned this or not, but I (with the help of my boss) got a Youtube page up for WFRV. It has many pieces on it including a bunch from me. Just goto youtube.com and do a search for wfrv5 (its the user name) or if you just want to see videos of stuff I have done, do a search for name. First and last. Can you spell it right? Yes, I am testing you. Enjoy.

Cafe Indulge

Posted on 2008.04.09 at 12:35
Ok, so a friend of mine opened a new coffee shop in De Pere. What with wanting the extra money, Brian going to Madison almost every weekend, and Scooter doing the Comedy City thing, I decided to work there part time. I was looking for awhile, thinking maybe working part-time, and this opportunity basically fell in my lap. So, yeah, I am working at this new shop. It opened on Sunday, and I worked 3 days so far. This worked great since I work weeknights at night, so I can work mornings and weekend at the coffee shop. I'll be fun, but tiring, I am sure. But hey, they have caffeine. Making the different types of coffee is a lot harder than I thought. It's like bartending with coffee instead of booze. As of right now there really isn't much signsge since the awning isn't going up till after Thursday.

But in case you were interested in visiting me at the new cafe, it is located at the old Sue Ann Bagel location in East De Pere on Broadway next to the Union Hotel. I will be working this Saturday from 2pm till 9-ish. Come visit, and drink lots of coffee.

Fishbowl Friday

Yesterday we got our station back up and running, which is good. While out shooting my stories, people kept coming up to me asking about it. Thank got it was back, so it wasn't bad giving people good news.

Anyway, one of the stories I did was a promo Showtime was doing for the new Tracey Ullman show. Since the writers strike is still going on, they had to make promos without her. So this promo had the statue of liberty made out of cheese. I ending up having to sign a release, because I might end up on one of the promos. So that's cool.

After work, I headed to the 'Naw for Fishbowl Friday. All the bartenders and staff don't really drink fishbowls, so this was the night to do it so they could tell the customers what each one was like. So I decided to help. Ended up meeting Rachel and Jon there. We left to Baba's to play pool, which we all suck at. Rachel and I each ended up winning a game before the bar closed. Then it was off to Perkins.

Once at Perkins we all ordered the same thing off the menu, which I thought was kind of funny since it was unintentional. I wound up back at my place around 4:30-5am. What a night.

Down at Work

Our transmission tower went down. This actually happened around 7pm Wednesday, but became an all day thing today, and at least most of the day tomorrow. Not physically down, but power-wise. By this, I mean out analog signal not digital. To put it plainly, if you watch TV on rabbit ears, you could not see us. We were taking calls all day/night telling people that their TV wasn't broken, we are not on strike, the digital conversion didn't happen a year earlier... and so on. About five 20-foot transmission lines (pipes) had to be removed and replace about 200-feet off the ground on the highest point in the area. So, it took awhile. Channel 2 helped us out by loaning a few of these pipe, and hopefully we will be back up Friday night. This is not good for sweeps (aka ratings period) which started today. Mark a big fat ZERO in the books for today, since only 40% of our viewing audience could see us.

...and yeah, we did stories on it today to let the people that COULD see us know what was going on.

Mardi Gras in Algoma

Posted on 2008.01.23 at 23:08
So I won these two free tickets from work for this Mardi Gras thing in Algoma on Saturday. The value of each is $50 for a banquet buffet, so the food must be really good. Its a cajun themed dinner. Anyway, the point it, I have 2 tickets, and was wondering if anyone would be interested in going with me. Sorry, only one extra ticket. Its also in Algoma, but I think I mentioned that already. The dinner is at 6pm.

Here is a link for more info.

So the Packers lost against the Giants, so this means I am not going to Phoenix for the Super Bowl. Friday I had to fill out forms and stuff for the trip if the Packers won... but they didn't. So this means I will not be in Phoenix for a full week. Still not sure if this is a good thing or not. The warm weather would have been nice... but doing more Packer stories, ugh.
